Professional Experience
Most of my professional career has centered around service to under-serviced communities. Serving as County Director of the Holmes County Department of Human Services from 1992 – 2008, my duties included assisting clients to become self-sufficient. Some of the technical assistance provided included assisting clients with resumes, business plans, financial business practices, improving credit scores, networking, and marketing.
Holmes County Chancery Clerk (2012 - 2019). I assisted businesses with legal formation, obtaining a clear title, getting the proper insurance coverage and the importance of paying tax and other liabilities in a timely manner. Served on North Central Planning Board of Directors, (2012-2019). The planning district serves the seven counties of North Central MS and their purpose is to aid business and the local community in the areas of planning, economic and community development, job training, and social services.
Economic Development Work
My economic development work in the community begin in 1992. It started working with a non-profit, (Holmes County Quality of Life Association), helping non-profits and small business find and apply for grant funding, grant compliance assistance, recruiting employees, business plans and marketing strategies. The association also provided community organizing efforts to address affordable housing and other issues related to improving the quality of life for all citizens.
Business Membership
I am an active member of the Holmes County Chamber of Commerce. Serviced as president from 1998-1999. The Chamber's purpose is to promote the interest of business and look for available resources to sustain or help them grow. Member of the Mississippi Association of Chancery Clerks
